Kinira Earrings
165.00€
Earrings composed of moving pomegranates, symbols of fertility, that are inspired by a neo-Hellenic belt from the island of Thassos.
A dazzling neo-Hellenic metal belt embellished with colourful enamel from Thassos island was the inspiration behind the Kinira earrings. The buckle of this belt, in the shape of a pomegranate, gave form to the hanging elements, which come alive as they move and rustle. Throughout the ages, pomegranate has been associated with fertility and is often found in buckles. Since antiquity, it has been a reference to Aphrodite and Persephone. Homer typically points to goddess Aphrodite’s embroidered belt as one of her erotic accessories.
The Kinira earrings are composed of four minuscule, moving, pomegranate-like elements that follow the shape of the ear and are worn from behind the ear lobe, resting on the earring pin. The front, a simple dot, can also be worn alone.
